If you search “best realtor in Bend Oregon,” you will get lists. Somebody will be ranked first, somebody else will have bought the bigger ad, and every agent in town will have a page claiming the title. Here is the honest answer, from a broker who has worked in Bend for 30 years: there is no single best realtor in Bend, Oregon. There are very good agents here — and the best one for you is the one who fits your move, your property, and your personality. That is not the same agent for everybody, and any ranking that pretends otherwise is selling something.
Why “best” depends on the fit
A relocation buyer moving from Texas needs something different than a local selling a family home in Northwest Crossing. Land and acreage deals turn on water rights, septic, and zoning knowledge. A luxury listing needs a different marketing machine than a first-time buyer’s condo. A big team might hand you to a showing agent you have never met, while a solo broker answers his own phone at 7 in the morning. None of that makes one agent “the best.” It makes each of them the best fit for somebody — and the wrong fit for somebody else.
The step most people skip: interview your agent
The fix is simple, and almost nobody does it. Before you hire a realtor in Bend, interview two or three of them. Twenty minutes on the phone will tell you more than any list. Ask:
- How long have you lived and worked in Central Oregon?
- Who will I actually work with day to day — you, or a handoff?
- Can I read your reviews across platforms — Google and Zillow, the words, not just the stars?
- How many homes have you closed in the last few years, in my price range and area?
- How do you communicate, and how fast?
- What do you know about the type of property I am buying or selling?
An agent who welcomes these questions is telling you something. An agent who dodges them is telling you something too.
Why I put myself on video
This is exactly why I have made hundreds of videos about Bend — neighborhood tours, market updates, relocation guides, drives through town in every season. They are not really about selling houses. They exist so you can get to know me before you ever pick up the phone: how I talk, how I think about this market, what I notice walking through a home after decades in construction, and whether I am somebody you would trust with the biggest purchase of your life.
Some people watch those videos and decide I am their guy. Some watch and decide I am not their style — and that is fine, honestly. They just saved us both a bad fit. Transparency works both ways, and I would rather lose a client to a better fit than win one who was never going to be happy.
If you want the short version of my record, it is this: I moved to Bend in 1996, spent years as a finish carpenter and builder before real estate, and have closed more than 275 transactions here. My clients have left 91 reviews on Google with a 5.0 average, and around 270 reviews across all platforms. I work solo, so the person you interview is the person who shows up. Most of my buyers are relocating from out of state, and helping families land well in Central Oregon is the work I like most.
The bottom line
Do not hire the agent a list told you to hire. Watch a few videos, read the reviews on more than one platform, interview two or three agents, and pick the one who fits how you think and what you are trying to do. If one of those interviews is with me, I will consider it time well spent either way.
